PSS Systems Announces Support for the EDRM XML Standard to Improve the Entire e-Discovery Process

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–PSS Systems, pioneer of the legal holds and enterprise retention management software market, today announced its support for the new Extensible Markup Language (XML) standard created by the Electronic Discovery Reference Model (EDRM) Project. PSS Systems is an active participant in the EDRM Project and its XML sub-committee, which were created to establish standards and guidelines for the electronic discovery market.

The goal of the new XML standard is to provide a standard, generally accepted schema to facilitate the movement of electronically stored information (ESI) from one step of the electronic discovery process to the next, from one software application to the next and from one organization to another. It helps all electronic discovery practitioners reduce costs and risks by synchronizing different data formats used within different systems. PSS Systems’ Atlas LCC software for legal holds and collection management for corporate litigation team departments will support this standard in four key functional areas:
* Applying of holds in electronic data repositories
* Managing collections from disparate systems and with various tools
* Collecting electronic data from custodians and automatically from disparate repositories
* Exporting collected data to other processing, analytics, review and production
