Press releaseIndustry Veterans from Corporate Legal, Law Firms and eDiscovery Providers to Advise on EDRM Direction

St. Paul, MN (February 8, 2007) – The Electronic Discovery Reference Model (EDRM), designed to develop and establish practical guidelines and standards for electronic discovery, today announced the establishment of an advisory committee to advise on the future direction of EDRM projects. In order to provide a balanced viewpoint, representatives from corporate legal, law firm and eDiscovery services and software providers were selected.

“The EDRM Project is a leading effort involving many organizations to define industry standards for electronic discovery,” said Jason Velasco, Vice President of Client Advisory Services at Renew Data. Since its inception in 2005, EDRM projects have involved over 50 eDiscovery services and software providers, 30 law firms and 5 corporations. “The EDRM Advisory Committee is dedicated to establishing these standards into everyday practice.”

The members of the inaugural EDRM Advisory Committee are:
Florinda Baldridge, Director of Practice Support, Fulbright & Jaworski L.L.P.
Thomas I. Barnett, Special Counsel, Sullivan & Cromwell LLP
Deborah Baron Director, Corporate Development, ZANTAZ, Inc.
Jeff D. Isenberg, Global Director, Litigation Technology, White & Case LLP
Laura M. Kibbe, Senior Corporate Counsel, Managing Director - Discovery Response Team, Pfizer Inc.

“Tom Gelbmann and I are proud to have identified the need to establish electronic discovery standards and to have led the EDRM effort to this point, “said George Socha of Socha Consulting LLC. “While we have always relied on the advice and recommendations of the EDRM members, this project has grown to the point where establishing a formal advisory committee was important to the long term success of the EDRM Projects.”

About EDRM

Launched in May 2005, the Electronic Discovery Reference Model (EDRM) Project was created to address the lack of standards and guidelines in the electronic discovery market – a problem identified in the 2003 and 2004 Socha-Gelbmann Electronic Discovery surveys as a major concern for vendors and consumers alike. The completed reference model provides a common, flexible and extensible framework for the development, selection, evaluation and use of electronic discovery products and services. Expanding on the base defined with the Reference Model, in May 2006 the EDRM projects were expanded to include the EDRM Metrics and the EDRM XML projects. Four additional projects will be launched in May 2007: Edrm Evergreen, EDRM Code of Conduct, EDRM Metrics 2 and EDRM XML 2. Information about EDRM is available at http://www.edrm.net.
