Encore Legal Solutions Helps Create New XML Standard Under Electronic Discovery Reference Model (EDRM) Initiative
Press release: Electronic Discovery Services Provider Will Adopt Standard Immediately
PHOENIX, AZ–(Marketwire - October 24, 2007) - Encore Legal Solutions, a leading national provider of electronic discovery and related services, supported the Electronic Discovery Reference Model (”EDRM”) in its development of an Extensible Markup Language (XML) standard for the easy transfer of electronically stored information to and from applications involved in different phases of the discovery process. Encore is both a sponsor and participant in the EDRM initiative and will immediately incorporate the standard into its own work product.
“As an end-to-end provider of electronic discovery services, we have been acutely aware of the additional cost and complexities caused by working across multiple systems,” said Greg Mazares, Encore’s President and CEO. “We commend the EDRM on their valuable work and are proud to be a part of this important initiative.”
The EDRM’s XML standard consists of a schema definition that will allow all parties to consistently describe documents of all types as they move through the e-discovery process; a validation tool to quickly and efficiently confirm that files conform to the XML standard; and an XML compliance process to help the parties determine whether individual applications conform to the standard.
Encore’s Chief Technology Officer Dene Halle and Director of Technology Jason Turnage participated in the Validation Tool Working Group. “The standard is only valuable to the extent users can trust that files conform to it. We believe the validation tool is a necessity to ensure the standard’s usability,” said Turnage.
“The XML standard addresses a major pain point within e-discovery — moving and formatting the different types of data across all of these disparate systems — and is an important step towards streamlining the process,” said George Socha, co-founder of EDRM and president of Socha Consulting LLC. “By adopting this standard, Encore Legal Solutions is taking a leadership position in creating greater efficiencies within the e-discovery process.”
