Weekly Letter to Our Global Community – 10 May 22

EDRM Letter to our global community 10 May 22

Dear EDRM Community,

The word for this week is burn.  New Mexico and the US Southwest are experiencing a multi-state wildfire propelled by wind.  Twenty years later, Silicon Valley’s PTSD over the downturn at the beginning of this century has investment backed companies spending for market share pulling back abruptly to lengthen their runways.  With Blackstone buying the DNA database of Ancestry.com and the potential use of search and location data brokers to track newly criminalized personal behavior, adtech and commercial surveillance are in the hot seat.

Twenty years later, Silicon Valley’s PTSD over the downturn at the beginning of this century has investment backed companies spending for market share pulling back abruptly to lengthen their runways.

In legal tech this week, we are hearing of teams burning the candle at both ends to deliver for clients, at the same time having difficulties moving new candidates and clients over the line.  Rolodexes are back in vogue as securing even Zoom meetings is challenging for salespeople new to our community.  Teams are buttoning up their pipeline before mid-June as we move toward our traditional summer service cycle.

EDRM Guardian Plus Partner, Everlaw, and EDRM are putting the finishing touches on our roadshow featuring Maura Grossman, Chuck Kellner and Mary Mack to Chicago, New York and LA starting June 1.  Let us save a seat for you.  Register early for the roadshows here.  Hear about the CLE’s, networking opportunities and COVID precautions to allow a gentle re-entry into regional conference gatherings with an international flair.

This month is Mental Health Awareness Month and EDRM has provocative programming reviewing some initiatives and gaps focused on improving our community’s individual and collective mental health.  Please see the end of this email to access EDRM’s continued commitment to our community’s well being and mental health as we learn new ways to support each other and thrive in these challenging times.

EDRM projects are open to new contributors, please reach out to info@edrm.net to let us know your interest, and we will introduce you to the appropriate Project Trustee.  You can check out EDRM’s project listings here.

Our Syndicated EDRM Global Podcast Network is available via iTunes, Spotify, Google Play and your favorite podcast app, so you can listen at your leisure.  Kaylee and Mary have our own podcast, the Illumination Zone, joining TAR Talk and Ryan Short’s eDiscovery After Hours podcasts.  Reach out to info@edrm.net to suggest guests, including your own fabulous self.

We continue to Zoom gather for an hour to give and get general support in our one hundred and thirteenth week each Tuesday. These sessions are point in time for us as humans and are not recorded.

Email us at info@edrm.net to be included on the group invitation for our interactive general support. Remember, you are not alone, and you are welcome at our events, or to reach out for help.  If you are having a mental health emergency, please consider these resources for professional help.

We welcome your participation in our projects, webinars, support gatherings, and our EDRM Hub, our job board/event/directory website.  There is no charge for these EDRM offerings, thanks to our very generous partners.

Control the burn,
Mary & Kaylee
