Welcome to the November issue of EDRM Update!
\r\nIssue 3 – November 2013\r\n\r\nIt’s been another busy month of activity for EDRM members, in particular the Metrics team who published both a glossary of terms and a set of metrics calculators. Lots of other projects are progressing well and we expect to see several completed before the end of 2013. Plans are also continuing for next year’s transition of EDRM to a non-profit organization.\r\n\r\nThis is certainly a good time for us to pause, and thank everyone who has participated with EDRM over the past year to continue its mission of improving standards and delivering useful resources to the industry. We are grateful to all who have invested their time and talents in this effort.\r\n\r\nWe wish all of you a very happy Thanksgiving and Hanukkah.\r\n\r\nEnjoy your holidays!\r\n\r\nGeorge Socha & Tom Gelbmann\r\n\r\nTo receive the newsletter, subscribe to our list\r\n[contentblock id=1344]\r\n\r\n[toc]\r\n\r\n

In the EDRM Pipeline
\r\nEDRM continues to work on the transition from its current structure as an LLC to a nonprofit, with the goal of completing the change by May 2014.\r\n\r\nEDRM is working on changes to the Electronic DIscovery Reference Model diagram to reflect the earlier change in the name of Information Governance Reference Model (IGRM) and to emphasis the iterative nature of the processes depicted by the diagram.\r\n\r\nEDRM’s Data Set group is in the process of redesigning the EDRM Privacy & Security Risk Reduction Model diagram – a tool designed to be used as a process roadmap for organizations that want to isolate risky data that needs to be protected or removed from data sets such as customer databases, e-discovery productions, or other types of data repository.\r\n\r\nEDRM’s Metrics group is (a) preparing a survey about e-discovery costs incurred by clients and how clients manage those costs; and (b) developing a new framework to help organizations benchmark their internal management of e-discovery activities.\r\n\r\nEDRM’s Native Files group continues to work on its .ENF standard and related materials. The group also will begin developing an EDRM Hash Value Standard.\r\n\r\nEDRM’s Search group is taking on two new initiatives, “Search and Visualization” and “Search and Foreign Language Character Sets (CJK)”.\r\n\r\nThe EDRM XML group’s efforts will be folded into the Native Files group.\r\n\r\nThe IGRM group is preparing an article, “Digital Debris – It is Time to Clean House”. On December 12, the group will deliver an IBM sponsored webinar in collaboration with the CGOC (Compliance, Governance, and Oversight Council).\r\n\r\n

Member Profile of the Month
\r\n\r\nBill Hamilton, National E-Discovery Partner, Quarles & Brady; Provost, Bryan University; Executive Director, UF Law E-Discovery Project\r\n\r\nEDRM Member since 2009\r\n\r\nEDRM Projects & Committees: Advisory Committee, Data Set, Search, Testing\r\n\r\nWhy I’m an EDRM member: EDRM is where the e-discovery rubber meets the road. EDRM walks the walk. EDRM makes e-discovery best practices come to life. EDRM is famous for its graphics, but the real secret sauce is in the Guides and tools that power actual e-discovery.\r\n\r\n
