EDRM Update – June 2014

EDRM Update\r\n

Welcome to the June 2014 issue of EDRM Update!

\r\nIssue 10 – June 2014\r\n\r\nGreetings!\r\n\r\nWe hope your summer is off to a great start. EDRM members were busy this month, and among their achievements was the completion of the new EDRM Search Intent Framework. Recognizing that the term “search” has varying degrees of legal impact depending on how it’s used, the new framework was developed to define and document various types of search intent that are part of the EDRM. The new framework is available for download via the EDRM website. Read the full announcement here.\r\n\r\nReminder: Last month we announced the release a new EDRM model diagram. The new graphic is available for download in a variety of formats from the EDRM website and may be used at no cost, but with proper attribution (EDRM.net).  Please ensure your internal documentation and all sales/marketing usage of the EDRM image are up to date.\r\n\r\nRegards,\r\n\r\nGeorge Socha & Tom Gelbmann\r\n\r\nTo receive the newsletter, subscribe to our list\r\n[contentblock id=1344]\r\n\r\n[toc]\r\n\r\n

June 2014 Highlights

\r\nThe EDRM Search Team released the EDRM Search Intent Framework. The term “search” is used interchangeably in records management, archiving, and e-discovery, but not all searches are similar as some have more legal impact than others. The new framework was developed to define and document various types of Search search Intent intent that are part of the EDRM.\r\n\r\n

The team will also is focusing on finalizing the EDRM XML 2.0 schema.\r\n\r\nEDRM’s IGRM team is developing stakeholder viewpoint whitepapers to highlight expectations and obligations of parties involved in developing information governance policies and procedures.\r\n\r\nAdditional teams are working on processing standards, email processing and hashing standards, dark data, and challenges of new technologies including guidelines on social media and cloud-based systems.\r\n\r\n

Member Profile of the MonthTina

\r\nTina Garbarino, Manager – eDiscovery at NBC Universal\r\n\r\nEDRM Member since 2013\r\n\r\nEDRM Projects & Committees: Metrics\r\n\r\nWhy I’m an EDRM member: My purpose for joining EDRM was to be at the forefront of constructing eDiscovery frameworks. EDRM has consistently provided the eDiscovery industry with a reliable source of information and knowledge surrounding all things eDiscovery. The group has assisted many organizations, myself included, in developing their eDiscovery process and continues to lead the way in developing new standards for eDiscovery and Information Governance. I’ve chosen to work on the Metrics team because I believe metrics are integral to the strategic direction of your organization processes. Metrics in eDiscovery can provide invaluable insight into current and future processes and help drive decisions around eDiscovery. EDRM was a valuable resource for me prior to joining and I’m excited to be working with them to further their mission.\r\n\r\n
