Weekly Letter to our Global Community: 1 Mar 22

EDRM Letter to our global community 1 Mar 22

Dear EDRM community,

The phrase for the week is in our lifetime.

After two years blunting the impact of a novel coronavirus, civil unrest around racial justice, resistance to mandates, political battles and extreme climate events, an almost unifying groundswell of support for Ukrainian resistance to invasion has disrupted prior stances, with Switzerland abandoning neutrality to Germany shipping arms.  From athletics to the financial system, from airlines to oil companies, organizations are freezing out the Russian invaders.

In legal tech this week, law firms are dropping clients with Russian interests and/or banning attorneys from commenting on sanctions.  With cyberattacks in full force, eDiscovery companies are on high alert for intrusions and malware, especially after recent hacks like Solar Winds. FinTech will be under tremendous scrutiny as assets move in and out. Noting that technology, such as facial recognition, personal information identification, location analysis used in eDiscovery, can be misused, some platforms are cutting off access to Russian use, while others are staying lit for organizing purposes.  All this as New York lifts its mask mandate and other restrictions just in time for Legalweek.

Every day this week, EDRM hosts the “Run-Up to Legalweek” with great webinars designed to optimize your time at Legalweek if you are going, and to give you a taste of the offerings of our Trusted Partners if you are not.  EDRM will be participating virtually, with our own in person Summit scheduled for early June.

We kick off with our monthly caselaw webinar, with the Hon. Judge Andrew Peck (ret.). Doug Austin, Tom O’Connor and Mary Mack. Congratulations to Judge Peck for his well deserved award of the 2022 Honorable Shira Scheindlin Lifetime Achievement in Ediscovery Hero Award presented by Zapproved, an EDRM Guardian Plus Trusted Partner.

Cellebrite, Onna, Exterro and Merlin Search Technologies all have webinars to give you a glimpse of what they will be offering so you can book your deeper dive or commercial conversation and forward your 2022 goals.

EDRM projects are open to new contributors again, please reach out to info@edrm.net to let us know your interest, and we will introduce you to the appropriate Project Trustee.  You can check out EDRM’s project listings here.

Our Syndicated EDRM Global Podcast Network is available via iTunes, Spotify, Google Play and your favorite podcast app, so you can listen at your leisure.  Kaylee and Mary have our own podcast, the Illumination Zone, joining TAR Talk podcast.  Reach out to info@edrm.net to suggest guests, including your own fabulous self.

We continue to Zoom gather for an hour to give and get general support in our one hundred and third week each Tuesday, with our two-year anniversary approaching next week.  These sessions are point in time for us as humans and are not recorded.

Email us at info@edrm.net to be included on the group invitation for our interactive general support. Remember, you are not alone, and you are welcome at our events, or to reach out for help.  If you are having a mental health emergency, please consider these resources for professional help.

We welcome your participation in our projects, webinars, support gatherings, and our EDRM Hub, our job board/event/directory website.  There is no charge for these EDRM offerings, thanks to our very generous partners.

Standing together,
Mary & Kaylee
