Dear EDRM Community,
The word for this week is advance. In the US, all signs point to vaccines availability for the young ones in June as scarce formula arrives by military planes. Sweden and Finland formally applied for NATO as Turkey demurred and Hungary’s Orban showcased the “White Replacement Theory” at CPAC, the ideology animating the Buffalo Supermarket shooter. Security researchers working in good faith no longer have to fear Computer Fraud and Abuse Act (CFAA) prosecution like the one that contributed directly to Aaron Swartz taking his life for fear of prison.
EDRM Guardian Plus Partner, Everlaw, and EDRM are packing our suitcases for our roadshow featuring Maura Grossman, Chuck Kellner and Mary Mack to Chicago, New York and LA starting June 1.
In legal tech this week, the FTC took aim at edtech surveillance of students. Antitrust legislation moved toward debate in Congress. Hardware mimicking neurons and synapses combined with software accelerate possibilities of the type of machine thinking that leapfrog our current TAR processes.
We wish Zoe Tillman well as she accepts a buyout, and thank her for her comprehensive and generous reporting, and especially all the linked opinions.
Speaking of opinions, our eDiscovery Case Law webinar today (with the Hon, Judge Andrew Peck, expert Tom O’Connor, Mary Mack and hosted by Doug Austin) will cover cases with inclusive threads, categorical priv logs, the Wayback machine as evidence and more.
