Weekly Letter to Our Global Community – 14 Jun 22

Dear EDRM Community,

EDRM Letter to our Global Community- 14 June 22

The word of the week is safer.

After demonstrations by gun safety advocates, a bipartisan group of senators announced a framework they believe will withstand a filibuster.  Microsoft announced they have ended noncompetes and nondisclosures and will commission and publish the results of a third-party civil rights audit toward creating a more collegial work environment.  Even as a Google data scientist was sidelined for wondering in public about a particular algorithm becoming sentient, Georgia Tech scientists are training robots to mimic the fluid motions of humans to create graffiti.

In legal tech this week, the Supreme Court settled a circuit split on international arbitrations and evidence gathering.

While recording a podcast with MLA’s Mark Yacano, Gunster’s Christine Payne invited our EDRM community to participate in a ground breaking survey on mental health in eDiscovery:

EDRM extends our gratitude to Andrew Haslam for his decade of stewardship of the eDisclosure Buyers Guide, and extends our congratulations to ComplexDiscovery’s Rob Robinson, Andrew’s chosen successor.

Ralph Losey continues his three-part series on Robophobia, looking closely at the point where machines will have a clear advantage for safety and efficiency and how or whether to address human foot dragging in adoption.

EDRM Guardian Plus Partner, Everlaw, and EDRM are #WheelsUp for our continuing roadshow featuring Dr. Maura R. Grossman, Chuck Kellner and Mary Mack now onto LA June 15th.

Our eDiscovery family gathered in our second event in New York, with EDRM Global Advisory Council leaders the Hon. Ron Hedges, Nikolai Pozdniakov and Dr. Maura R. Grossman.  EDRM supporters Jen Roberts and Carolee Byerley trekked from DC and Zoya Gorbachova from Toronto. The warmth in the room began at the plated lunch and ended at the lively reception, both held in the atrium for optimum ventilation.

EDRM projects are open to new contributors, please reach out to info@edrm.net to let us know your interest, and we will introduce you to the appropriate Project Trustee.  You can check out EDRM’s project listings here.

Safety in numbers,
Mary & Kaylee
