Weekly Letter to Our Global Community – 7 Jun 22

Letter to our EDRM Global Community 7 June 22

Dear EDRM Community,

The word of the week is family.  As parents of the wee ones see light at the end of the tunnel for vaccines and formula, all families are facing the sucking sound of gas money emptying the coffers. Travel to family, whether air or car, is different, with a need for more flexibility in the getting and being there and a heightened awareness to make the trips safer.  And the joy, the absolute joy, of connecting is palpable, making the journey all worth it.

In legal tech this week, work on a drone equipped with a stun gun was halted after AI ethics committee input.  Skadden gets the Musk-Twitter matter and hiring continues in our sector.  Rhys Dipshan surveyed how law firms have internalized machine learning and predictive analytics in specific practice areas.

EDRM Guardian Plus Partner, Everlaw, and EDRM are #WheelsUp for our continuing roadshow featuring Dr. Maura R. Grossman, Chuck Kellner and Mary Mack now onto New York June 8th and LA June 15th.

Our eDiscovery family gathered in our pilot event in Chicago, with EDRM General Counsel, Craig Ball, and Global Advisory Council leaders Jay Yelton, Doug Kaminski, John Pappas and Dr. Maura R. Grossman.  The Depp-Heard verdict and photo forensics were a hot topic, besides our collective heartfelt personal and professional catchups.  What a joy to hear the trademark buzz of our eDiscovery family reunion and welcome of our Zoom cousins.

EDRM projects are open to new contributors, please reach out to info@edrm.net to let us know your interest, and we will introduce you to the appropriate Project Trustee.  You can check out EDRM’s project listings here.

Our Syndicated EDRM Global Podcast Network is available via iTunes, Spotify, Google Play and your favorite podcast app, so you can listen at your leisure.  Kaylee and Mary have our own podcast, the Illumination Zone, joining TAR Talk and Ryan Short’s eDiscovery After Hours podcasts.  Reach out to info@edrm.net to suggest guests, including your own fabulous self.  Join us as we welcome Tom Gricks and Dr. Jeremy Pickens to the EDRM Global Podcast Network with a live recording of the Tom & Jeremy Show: the inconvenient truth about eDiscovery.

Every Tuesday at 6PM Eastern, community members gather via Zoom to offer or request support as we navigate our work and personal challenges.  Email us at info@edrm.net to be included on the group invitation for the 117th support call. Remember, you are not alone, and you are welcome at our events, or to reach out for help.  If you are having a mental health emergency, please consider these resources for professional help.

We welcome your participation in our projects, webinars, support gatherings, and our EDRM Hub, our job board/event/directory website.  There is no charge for these EDRM offerings, thanks to our very generous partners.

We are family,
Mary & Kaylee
