Drop boxes are ok for babies, not ballots.  Google offered a data science model with a bit of overlap for the EDRM community.  Malcolm Gladwell disses on working from home.  Even Death Valley flooded and Appalachia is anticipating more flooding, here are ways to help.  Eric Topal offered a hopeful study on masking and distancing to prevent COVID even as this surge peaks, and as we face both monkeypox (not only an STD) and a resurgence of polio (polio!!)

In legal tech this week, the Alex Jones trial lit up the boards with Craig Ball writing twice, here and here, Greg Bufithis offering his analysis.  Legaltech News‘ Isha Marathe wrote a breaking article on it where Mary Mack, Craig Ball and David Cohen of Reed Smith LLP weigh in with their thoughts on “Inadvertent Disclosure in Alex Jones Trial Leaves E-Discovery Experts Flabbergasted.“ Mary Mack’s thoughts on the Alex Jones inadvertent production “Alex Jones, Alex Jones, Alex Jones, We Got a Thing Goin’ On” here.  Monday, CNN reported the texts have been produced to the January 6th Committee.

Bloomberg offered their transactional legal tech survey showing a very healthy increase in cyber, privacy and product counsel (information governance) activities.  We are beginning to see authentication challengesto open source social media and video evidence.  The Law & Justice Journalism Project launched to bring together veteran journalists, producers, editors, and criminal legal system experts to improve reporting on issues related to justice and public safety. 

The very on time EDRM Text Message Metadata Primer Project launched last week, with a podcast by Project Trustee, Monica Harris.  EDRM announced a Ripped from the Headlines Flash Webinar series launching with a fireside chat between Craig Ball and Mary Mack on the Alex Jones damages trial’s Perry Mason moment this Wednesday 8.10 at 1pm ET and next week, a fireside panel discussion among Jason R. Baron, former director of litigation for NARA and two cyber lawyers, the Dever brothers on the Federal Records Act and the Secret Service, DHS and DOD’s migration and departing employees protocols and lost texts.
