ComplexDiscovery released the results of an inaugural, provocative and ground breaking survey of reviewers to determine attitudes toward onsite and remote review called the Winter 2023 Document Reviewer Preferences Survey Results.
Over 500 respondents weighed in, not only on the onsite/remote dichotomy, but also on the factors underlying the preference, and the monetary premium and table stakes necessary to attract the talent back into review centers.
A stunning 98% are open to remote review, with only 20% open to onsite review. Of respondents, 60% were currently engaged, with 33% between projects.
Regarding factors directly influencing consideration of onsite document review work, over 75% of respondents cited home based benefits of more flexible schedule, commuting time and cost, more hours available to work, and more efficiency working from home. A smaller percentage looked at proximity, better food options and ability to balance personal obligations. COVID and other heath risks were half of responses.
In order to attract reviewers to a centralized review when health related factors are considered, over 60% would expect upgraded air filtration and airflow and social distancing of review stations. Only 25% expected masking.
As for compensation, the majority expects a premium of over $9/hour for onsite work compared to remote.
