Dear EDRM Community,

The word of the week is juncture.

In a cross sectional study and cautionary tale for the professions, participants ranked ChatGPT answers higher than licensed, experienced medical professionals in part due to the perceived empathy of the bot.  Loneliness is epidemic. Some Salesforce Community servers are leaking data.  JP Morgan will likely steward First Republic Bank as US regulators step in after this weekend. Ukraine’s spring offensive is drawing nearer as the Pope embarks on a peace mission.

In legal tech this week, we get a glimpse of the depth of geofence warrants for the January 6 investigation. US agencies (Federal Trade Commission, Department of Justice, Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, and Equal Employment Opportunity Commission) issued a joint statement emphasizing existing laws apply to AI.  Rob Robinson of ComplexDiscovery parsed the Google C4 data for eDiscovery strength.  Cassandre Coyer of Legaltech News looked at preserving TikTok data given the potential shutdown.  NYPD gave out Apple AirTags to track stolen cars.

EDRM Cross Platform Duplicate Identification Specification, EDRM Message ID Hash (MIH) got quite a bit of attention.  The MIH Toolkit includes the specification, guidelines for use, a one-page infographic and a white paper authored by Craig Ball.  In addition, two new tools were published:  An Excel calculator using webservices rather than macros, and a method to calculate the hash in Notepad.  Two webinars open to the community were held and recorded for later replay with Trustee Beth Patterson, Craig Ball, Matt Golab and Ian Folkman. Access the recording here 24×7.

The Privilege Log project released its Privilege Log 2.0 protocol, also for public comment.  The Public Comment Period is complete and the project team is considering the input.
