Dear EDRM community,
The word for the week is transformational.
The image of freedom and democracy is now a sunflower, a wheelchair bound senior making Molotov cocktails and tearful families separating at the Ukrainian border. With schools and apartment buildings devastated by bombing, whole cities are uprooting with their citizens fleeing for their lives. International alliances have done 180’s, with Hungary offering to host NATO troops, among others. From credit card companies to Levi’s, commerce is taking a stand.
Our EDRM Trusted Partner, Everlaw, is hosting an “All are Welcome” signature cocktail party on Wednesday at 5 pm-7 pm at Bridges Bar.
In legal tech this week, the International Criminal Court has opened an inquiry into Ukraine. Law firms, including Norton Rose, have stopped accepting Russian work, are exiting where possible from current engagements and donating profits to humanitarian relief. All of the Big Four have exited. Technology companies such as Samsung are removing their products from Russian shelves. Ralph Losey has turned to Twitter to request Legalweek panels open with a moment of silence, and for legal tech companies to disclose whether they have Russian investment. We encourage our community and Trusted Partners to redouble their cybersecurity efforts, technical, procedural and social engineering.
Our EDRM Trusted Partner, Everlaw, is hosting an “All are Welcome” signature cocktail party on Wednesday at 5 pm-7 pm at Bridges Bar. No need to leave the friendly confines of the Hilton to stop by to raise a glass or come to say hello before heading out. Our Trusted Partner, Merlin Search Technologies is up for an Innovation Awards, and many of our Project Trustees, contributors and Advisory Council are speaking. [Edited]
The “Run-Up to Legalweek” had great webinars from our EDRM Trusted Partners designed to optimize your time at Legalweek if you are going, and to give you a taste of the offerings of our Trusted Partners if you are not. The offerings from Onna, Exterro, Cellebrite and Merlin Search Technologies are freely available on demand. EDRM will be participating virtually, with our own in person Summit scheduled for early June.
