Dear EDRM Community,

The word of the week is palpable. 

As HM Queen Elizabeth was laid to rest, Alaska, Puerto Rico and Pakistan are under water, with wildfire smoke drifting east in the US. Lupus is the latest chronic disease to where CAR-T therapy is showing progress, the clinical trial treatmentthat gave the late Robert Childress more years.  Unions are negotiating work from home provisions in labor contracts as railroads and unions will keep the supply chain running with a tentative agreement. Richard Tromans pulled this nugget from Wolters Kluwer’s study of legal tech adoption and profitability: “70% of corporate lawyers and 58% of law firm lawyers say they are very or somewhat likely to leave their current position in the next year. Appellate Judges, The Hon. In legal tech this week, the US-DOJ has proposed the Relativity platform for the Special Master process with the Mar-a-Lago documents. Relativity, an EDRM Trusted Partner, is also used by the DOJ for the Jan. 6th prosecutions. It is fun to see our partners in the news engaged in headline cases. Gibson Dunn and Facebook (Meta) face sanctions, and Facebook has no idea where it stores user data (via Doug Austin at eDiscovery Today). Twitter faces a whistleblower alleging that “51% of the ~11 thousand full-time employees had privileged access to Twitter’s production systems.”  Legaltech News’ Isha Maranthe looks at overpromises in legal AI with extensive quotes from EDRM Advisory Council leader, Dr. Maura R. Grossman and CEO, Mary Mack.  World Software (Worldox) named a new president after the last was arrested:  The Nuix-Reveal romance was outed by Bloomberg’s Steve Lerner.  The White House released guidelines for federal software development in light of the Solar Winds hack as Uber was hacked via social engineering. EDRM Global Advisory Council leader, Dennis Kennedy, talks about 1996 legal tech as Rob Robinson of ComplexDiscovery and EDRM requests input on the Fall 2022 eDiscovery Business Confidence Survey.

Mary is at PREX this week and EDRM hosted Monica Enand, CEO of our wonderful trusted partner, Zapproved, in a video short interview about the importance of the keynote at PREX. 

EDRM published its “Using Special Masters and Discovery Mediators to Resolve eDiscovery Disputes: A Bench Book for Judges and Attorneys 2022 Edition, Public Comment Version.” Comments are accepted through September 29, 2022.
