In legal tech this week, Elon Musk’s texts to and from a Who’s Who in high tech feature prominently in the Twitter M&A suit. “U.S. securities regulators have imposed close to $2 billion in fines on more than a dozen financial firms, including eight major Wall Street banks, for failing to police employees who routinely used messaging apps and other ‘off channel’ services on their personal phones to communicate with one another,” reported Matthew Goldstein and Emily Flitter of the New York Times.
The Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals’s recent ruling in NetChoice v. Paxton threatens the very structure of the Internet according to an analysis by Charlie Warzel. The Public Comment Period for EDRM’s “Using Special Masters and Discovery Mediators to Resolve eDiscovery Disputes: A Bench Book for Judges and Attorneys 2022 Edition, Public Comment Version” is closed and the Project Team and EDRM are grateful for the submissions. The Project Team will consider the comments and revise if appropriate, with the goal of publishing the final prior to eDiscovery Day, December 1.
Gayle O’Connor Spirit Award Nominations are open. The Gayle O’Connor (GO) Spirit Award celebrates members of the e-discovery and legal technology communities whose singular energy, enthusiasm and verve echo the spirit of the late Gayle O’Connor (1956-2020).
