Frank Ready of Legaltech News surveyed the landscape, considerations and market acceptance for eDiscovery companies rebranding to include information governance, compliance, security and privacy.

It’s just a byzantine labyrinth of, where do you even find information about ‘I just need an e-discovery tool.’ Or ‘I need a data privacy tool.’ … It’s just confusion in the marketplace.

Bill Piwonka, CMO at EDRM partner, Exterro, sees the market imperative to extend eDIscovery toward the left of the EDRM noting both security challenges and privacy regulation.

Could [a vendor] survive long-term focusing just on e-discovery? Sure. But they are not going to be the leader because e-discovery technology is bleeding into all of these other areas, and it’s just smarter to have one solution that can address all of these other challenges.
