ILTACON 2021: Pre-Conference Round-Up

4 starting blocks for a foot race

There is no shortage of coverage of the upcoming ILTACON (22-26 Aug 2021) in Las Vegas, Nevada. EDRM has long participated in the conference, and hosted many a festive event. Last and this year, however, we send our good wishes from afar in accordance with our virtual events only policy for 2021. We look forward to seeing all of you in person in 2022.

Doug Austin, of eDiscoveryToday wonders if in person conferences are jumping the gun, while still attending ILTA and speaking. Doug also covered the COVID-19 precautions ILTA will employ to reduce risk, as well as the educational and networking opportunities that will be available, including a party that Innovative Discovery’s Kim Taylor could rock: a pajama pants party to celebrate our remote Zoom business attire.

Bob Ambrogi, of LawSites and many other things, had been planning to attend, and decided against it in a risk/benefit analysis. His Legaltech Week Reporters’ Roundtable covered it today, August 20, 2021, with a wistful tone.

Joe Patrice, of Above the Law, is trusting the science, and is traveling to Vegas and will host a suite at the conference venue. He will not be at the conference proper, due to lack of a journalist’s pass and is scheduling conversations in the suite.

Carolyn Hill of Legal IT Insider (aka The Orange Rag), has continuing coverage, including hard numbers and the tech journalist invitation controversy.

Stephen Embry of TechLaw Crossroads and Chair Elect of the Law Practice Division of the American Bar Association. will not be attending, and will miss it after raising the issue of many bloggers and journalists being denied complimentary passes.

Zach Warren and Rhys Dipshan of Legaltech news will bring their expert eye as they rove around the entire conference.

Cat Casey of Reveal Brainspace is teasing some major personal news for the conference–and EDRM will wait for the formal announcement, and at the same time, major congratulations are in order.

EDRM is scheduling podcast interviews from afar with onsite attendees. We look forward to talking with Doug, Zach and Steve and you, perhaps?
