Weekly Letter to Our Global Community – 13 Sept 22

EDRM Letter to our global community 13 Sept 2022

Dear EDRM Community,

The phrase of the week is turning point.

HM Queen Elizabeth II passed, and King Charles III ascended to the throne.  The Queen’s seventy years of stewardship are being celebrated and her public’s grief is palpable.  Pakistan is still under water from that massive monsoon as the same wildfires are still burning hot on the west coast of the US.  Ukraine signaled a fake move to the south that supported its surprise advance toward the east, recovering territory at a speed not seen since the beginning of the invasion.

In legal tech this week, Alex Jones with his eDiscovery default in the Texas case, will be in Connecticut court in another case defending against the Sandy Hook parents.  Bloomberg’s Steven Lerner reported on rumors Reveal is chasing Nuix.  Others in the space have been heard whispering, “Get in line,” as Nuix demurs.  EDRM published Ralph Losey’s clarion call to include privacy as a proportionality factor, John Tredennick’s masterful explanation of Zero Trust Networks and EDRM joined ComplexDiscovery’s Rob Robinson’s call for participation on the Fall eDiscovery Business Confidence Survey.

Kaylee & Mary will be at PREX next week and we hosted Monica Enand, CEO of our wonderful trusted partner, Zapproved, in a video short interview about the importance of the keynote at PREX. The keynote focuses on the need for corporations to adopt a reproductive bill of rights.  EDRM is proud to sponsor PREX, live and in person, at its ten year anniversary gathering.  EDRM22 at checkout will score a 50% discount.

EDRM published its “Using Special Masters and Discovery Mediators to Resolve eDiscovery Disputes: A Bench Book for Judges and Attorneys 2022 Edition, Public Comment Version.” Comments are accepted through September 29, 2022.

Gayle O’Connor Spirit Award Nominations are open. The Gayle O’Connor (GO) Spirit Award celebrates members of the e-discovery and legal technology communities whose singular energy, enthusiasm and verve echo the spirit of the late Gayle O’Connor (1956-2020). The GO Spirit Award is given to an individual in the legal profession who best exemplifies Gayle O’Connor’s spirit and work ethic by serving as an example for other individuals in the profession through attitude, collegiality, energy and accomplishments thereby serving as a positive example for not just those in the legal industry but all people.
