Weekly Letter to Our Global Community – 15 Nov 22

EDRM Letter to our Global Community 15 Nov 22

Dear EDRM community,

The word of the week is control.

Ukraine has retaken Kherson, the US Congress is split with votes still being tallied, and medical professionals are fearing the impact to hospital care with a tripledemic. Musk’s “rightsized” Twitter is publicly challenged by the EU, the FTC and US Senator Ed Markey, who urged Musk to focus more on fixing his companies or “Congress would” after an $8 verification/impersonation dustup. FTX and some other crypto Is melting down in either a Lehman Brothers or Enron manner.  The legal press is arguing whether firm layoffs, stealth now, will rise to the level of 2008. Bloomberg Law 2023 explores the litigation, transactional and areas of interest, while Al Gore offers a global granular database of emission levels by source.

Doug Austin launched the short eDiscovery Today State of the Industry Report Survey (once again sponsored by EDRM) and we welcome your insights on this.

In legal tech this week, the 19 nominations with 13 nominees for the Gayle O’Connor GO Spirit Award are honored prior to the award being presented to the winner on eDiscovery Day Dec. 1st at 4:30pm ET. EDRM Trusted Partner, IPRO, welcomed Ethan Treese as Chief Commercial Officer.  Planet Data’s plaintiff firm client, who negotiated free hosting, is suing Veristar for charging for the “free hosting” after the change in control.  Historians and war crimes investigators are searching for solutions to mitigate the impact of potentially losing Twitter. Doug Austin launched the short eDiscovery Today State of the Industry Report Survey (once again sponsored by EDRM) and we welcome your insights on this.
