ComplexDiscovery released the results of the 2023 Winter eDiscovery Business Confidence Survey. With a couple exceptions, the market is looking steely eyed into the future, with most hanging on to a “no change” posture.

EDRM thanks our global community for participating in this survey so we can take our economic pulse and see trend-lines.

While a little over half of the respondents felt business conditions were normal, a decreasing percentage felt conditions were less good, and a measurable amount felt conditions were bad.

A similar pattern emerged for the question about business confidence in the next six months: majority is no change, but those thinking conditions will be better reduced in favor of those feeling conditions will be worse.

Budget concerns knocked data volumes and increasing data types out of the top spot for challenges, and lack of personnel is the last thing on people’s mind.

According to Rob Robinson, of ComplexDiscovery,

The quarterly eDiscovery Business Confidence Survey has been administered twenty-nine times since early 2016, with 2,939 individual responses from eDiscovery industry professionals. The survey provides valuable insight into the current business confidence of cybersecurity, information governance, and legal discovery professionals in the eDiscovery ecosystem.
