Dear EDRM Community,

The word of the week is unpredictable.

Tanks are on their way to Ukraine, an entire police special unit was disbanded and officers fired and arrested after the beating death of a young black father and violence continues to shatter the safety of dance hallssynagogues and mosques.

In legal tech this week, the big news is our Trusted Partner, Exterro, acquired another of our Trusted partners, Zapproved.  Get the inside scoop from the Founder and CEO, Bobby Balachandran, on how he is turning his legal tech vision into reality and how this acquisition fits into the plan.

ChatGPT continues its romp through our community with Craig Ball grading it a “mediocre law student.”  John Tredennick and William Weber give it the Enron test, and eDiscovery Today asks if it will replace human reviewers.  Ted Lieu, tech savvy Congress member, had it draft some legislation to regulate itself.  If you need a starting place, check out this list of prompts for ChatGPT.

Surveys

Rob Robinson of ComplexDiscovery released the winter 2023 results.  Cellebrite released their 2023 Trends Survey results.  EDRM conducted its first flash poll in our EDRM LinkedIn Group about working remote versus the office. EDRM’s Global Advisory Council weighed in with predictions for 2023 and beyond.

Projects

EDRM Announces New White Paper Addressing “Professional Responsibility Considerations in AI for eDiscovery Competence, Confidentiality, Privacy & Ownership” for public comment.

In addition, the Privilege Log project released its Privilege Log 2.0 protocol, also for public comment.

The State Rules Project is looking for some contributors to fill out the rest of the US map.  See if your state is covered here

EDRM’s project listings are here.
