- Global Legal Tech Developments: Law firms Paul Weiss, Covington, and Perkins are fighting security clearance and government business removals. A new executive order requires the government to seek a money bond in injunction cases by enforcing FRCP 65(c). An app called Block Party can optimize social media privacy. Showing their work: Ralph Losey tested the new OpenAI 4.5 against the previous version. John Tredennick and Dr. William Webber used several AIs together to generate an outline and closing argument for the BP case. Sheila Grela focused on durable skills for paralegals and very specific skills for trial exhibit management.
- International eDiscovery Trends: Legaltech News’ Ella Sherman interviewed the Hon. Xavier Rodriguez about AI, hyperlinks, attachments, and more. The EDRM Testimony Evidence Reference Model (TERM) project was relaunched. Mike Berman wrote on the latest court opinion (Uber) on modern attachments/hyperlinked files and on a case delineating criteria to stay discovery pending disposition of a motion. USAID employees were allegedly told to shred documents in Arthur Andersen style. The Ninth Circuit upheld the conviction of ex Uber’s security chief for a data breach coverup. Amazon’s Echo will send all voice recordings to the cloud starting March 28. Seagate sold a megaton of storage last year. There may be an even more efficient way to structure hash tables. Deepfake voice evidence can cause problems in court. South Dakota’s Deepfake bill would require labeling the fakes if used for political purposes. - World Events Impacting Legal Tech: ComplexDiscovery reported on Kursk and disinformation in the Russia-Ukraine war as negotiations for a cease-fire are in their beginning stages. The relocation of Gazans is being explored. The stranded astronauts may be coming home. Measles have arrived in Michigan. Prevention, timing, symptoms, and treatment, including alternative treatments, are explained to all of us. Tornados and wildfires displaced and killed many from Oklahoma to Atlanta. The eclipse was captured from the moon’s point of view.
