Dearest EDRM Community,
Word of the week: Unlearning.
In legal tech last week, great powers, great corporations, and ordinary people were deeply immersed in changing how we are regulated, collaborate, and find meaningful employment. ComplexDiscovery OÜ’s semi-annual pricing survey tracks how we in legaltech serve our clients over time (especially now with AI), and EDRM gently reminds you to participate, as your input is most needed for this important survey.
Join us as our Trusted Partner Nextpoint presents 6 Keys to a Precise and Defensible ESI Collection Strategy on July 30 at 1PM Eastern.

Senator Ron Wyden secured privacy filters for Oregonians similar to those negotiated by Illinois for sensitive surveillance via license plate readers.
- International eDiscovery Trends: We so appreciate Mike Berman covering the landscape of eDiscovery, with this week’s insights on cases exploring when forensic exams are appropriate, what behaviors are so dysfunctional that they drive jurists to fashion ESI protocols, and what surprises they might contain, as well as a case that illustrates eDiscovery 101. Mike Lindell won his appeal to throw out Bob Zeidman’s arbitration award for his election fraud contest. ComplexDiscovery OÜ released its semi-annual pricing survey, and EDRM encourages our community to respond during this period of flux in legal. ComplexDiscovery also shared their thought-provoking Operating Manifesto.
- World Events Impacting Legal Tech: ComplexDiscovery analyzed the Ukraine-Russia conflict. Russia criminalized searching for “extremist” content. Cambodia and Thailand’s border conflict had tens of thousands fleeing before a ceasefire was established. Greece and Turkey battled wildfires. Both China and the US released AI action plans this week. Microsoft’s CEO and Chair, Satya Nadella, explained Microsoft’s vision and commitment after announcing another 9000 layoffs, noting that both learning and unlearning will be critical in changing how they work.
