- Global Legal Tech Developments: Ralph Losey wrote about Google’s next breakthrough: quantum with a verifiable advantage. Another Biglaw firm was slapped with sanctions due to hallucinated citations. Latham and Watkins published information on the impact of the government shutdown on the courts. Newsweek has a list of companies that have filed WARN notices, filed when employment loss occurs at the employment site during any 30-day period for 500 or more employees, or for 50-499 employees if they make up at least 33 percent of the employer’s active workforce. The US Government shutdown has impacted the defense of the indigent in federal cases. Zoom camera angles exposed a police witness with no pants. ComplexDiscovery shared a Six Point Verification Framework going far beyond mere cite checking.
- International eDiscovery Trends: Redgrave* published an article, authored by Robert Keeling, Martin Tully, and Ana M. Cabassa Torres, advocating for privacy to be part of the proportionality analysis. Sheila Grela published a two-parter on the 12-minute habit with eDiscovery Today (see Part 2 here).
