• Global Legal Tech Developments: Lexis and Thomson are getting twitchy about validating their AI offerings reports Richard Tromans. Courts have malware backdoored into foundational systems per Ars Technica. SAG-AFTRA is on Fast Company’s 2024 list of the world’s Most Innovative Companies. Elon Musk is devoting resources to thwart Russia jamming Starlink.  Here are the companies that have licensed their content for AI training.  Here are some of the companies suing over infringement in AI training. Prompt injection becomes a risk to mitigate. The US SEC approved Ether bitcoin ETF’s. UK Legal market salaries are on the rise.

• International eDiscovery Trends: It didn’t take long for a regulator, here the UK Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), to look into Microsoft Co-Pilot’s Recall feature that snaps and saves screenshots every little while. Four digit pin numbers have some patterns. One of the first chat apps, ICQ, will shut down at the end of June.  Google has changed its algorithm to include AI Overviews and preliminary results are in. EDRM Trusted Partner, eDiscovery Today, has a kitchen sink full of articles, including one on the creative use of code words to combat deep fake audios. Alex Jones’ attorney Norm Pattis had his six month suspension from the Connecticut Bar overturned by an appeals court.
  
  
• World Events Impacting Legal Tech: Just Security has announced a symposium on the developments in the International Criminal Court’s warrants and opinions regarding Israel and Hamas as the fighting continues. Bangladesh evacuated hundreds of thousands before a huge cyclone hits. Over 670 souls were lost in Papa New Guinea during landslides. The Central US lost over a dozen souls to tornados.  Scientists have discovered a potentially habitable planet.
