In our legal tech world this week, we can still feel the buzz in the room as we reflect on the new friends, refreshed connections, and exciting concepts we will bring to our eDiscovery and legal tech response from our gathering in Chicago for Relativity Fest.

Global Legal Tech Developments: EDRM Trusted Partner Reed Smith and Gravity Stack shared the results of a Proof of Concept on detecting anomalies in structured financial data. The typically collaborative WordPress ecosystem is highly contentious this month. Three men are charged with hacking the Trump campaign. Deepfake audio election-related robocalls earned a 6 million dollar fine from the US FCC. It is challenging to keep up with all the laws California considered, passed, and vetoed on AI this term. Engadget covered Microsoft’s explanation of security and privacy for its controversial Recall feature, which takes periodic screenshots and saves them. Rob Robinson released his Five Great Reads, including articles on deepfake evidence and the changing role of the CTO.
International eDiscovery Trends: Congratulations to all the winners of Trusted Partner Relativity’s 2024 Innovation Awards, especially Vazantha Meyers, Vice President, Discovery Services, of EDRM Trusted Partner Haystack ID, who was recognized for her work in the Inclusion category. Elevate acquired Redgrave Data. Congratulations to EDRM contributors Dr. Jeremy Pickens, Dave Lewis, and Tara Emory. It’s come full circle: Zoom announces Compliance Management features, including some eDiscovery. The tech industry is very interested in the Apple-Epic document production delay. EDRM Trusted Partner Cellebrite Patented Mobile Collection and Greg Buckles is here for it. Doug Austin filled his Kitchen Sink with Ralph Losey’s call to address deep fake evidence with Rules changes, Mike Berman on collecting connected cars, Rob Robinson on Deep Fakes, Aaron Patton’s Gates Dogfish, and more. World Events Impacting Legal Tech: Israel continues with strikes against Hezbollah and the Houthis. Russia threatens nuclear weapons, and Kyiv comes under conventional fire. North Carolina and Nepal are underwater. The UK stopped burning coal. DirecTV bought Dish for a dollar and debt. Supply chains will be constrained with a strike at US East Coast ports. China is stimulating its economy by changing property rules and interest rates.
