ComplexDiscovery Editor’s Note: Cellebrite’s acquisition of Corellium marks a pivotal step in the evolution of mobile security and digital intelligence. Announced on June 5, 2025, this $200 million deal underscores a strategic alignment that empowers Cellebrite to expand far beyond its traditional expertise in digital evidence extraction. For cybersecurity professionals, information governance leaders, and eDiscovery specialists, the integration of Corellium’s hypervisor-based virtualization platform signals a transformative opportunity—especially in vulnerability research, mobile penetration testing, and secure application development. The acquisition is not just a business milestone but a directional shift toward comprehensive mobile and IoT security in a world increasingly reliant on Arm-based systems.

In a strategic move to enhance virtual device security, Cellebrite, a leader in digital forensic solutions, announced the acquisition of Corellium. On June 5, 2025, both companies formalized an agreement, marking a new era in digital investigations with innovative Arm-based virtualization technologies. The acquisition, set at a valuation of up to $200 million, is slated to finalize this summer, pending approval from the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS).

Cellebrite, a leader in digital intelligence based in Israel, aims to leverage Corellium’s advanced platform to diversify its product offerings beyond digital evidence extraction. Corellium has gained recognition for its hypervisor virtualization solutions, enabling researchers and developers to simulate mobile operating systems securely. This innovation provides the capability to conduct forensics while preserving the integrity of data.

Arm is the world’s most pervasive computing platform, and as AI continues to transform markets, the safety and security of our devices has never been more critical.

Thomas E. Hogan, Cellebrite’s interim CEO, emphasized the strategic importance of this merger, stating, “Corellium has built an industry-unique virtualization platform that will help secure communities and institutions.” Hogan highlighted that the merger transcends technology through the integration of expertise in vulnerability research, malware analysis, and security testing. This acquisition is designed to bolster Cellebrite’s capabilities in both public safety and cybersecurity, particularly within defense, intelligence, and private sectors.

Cellebrite’s acquisition of Corellium is expected to broaden its total addressable market (TAM), especially in mobile vulnerability research and mobile device security. Mohamed Awad, Arm’s SVP and GM of Infrastructure, expressed his outlook on the transformative potential of Corellium’s solutions and stated, “Arm is the world’s most pervasive computing platform, and as AI continues to transform markets, the safety and security of our devices has never been more critical.”

Chris Wade, one of the founders of Corellium, will assume the role of Chief Technology Officer at Cellebrite. Wade articulated the shared vision of integrating technologies that provide powerful virtualization solutions to developers and investigators. He said, “With Cellebrite’s offerings, users have ‘blueprints’ of device structures. The addition of Corellium’s technology enables users to explore and scrutinize devices securely.”

This acquisition positions Cellebrite closer to the software supply chain and strengthens its footprint in DevSecOps markets, particularly for institutions prioritizing security over the life cycle of application development. It provides Cellebrite with advanced capabilities in mobile penetration testing and continuous dynamic testing for any Arm-based device, ranging from smartphones to IoT devices.

With over 500 organizations already utilizing Corellium’s advanced tools, the merger takes a broad approach to secure and develop virtual environments where physical access is logistically challenging.
