Dearest EDRM community,

The word of the week is respite.

EDRM will be taking time through July 11, and email responses will be delayed.  Wishing you a wonderful and renewing break!

It’s still smoky.  The United States Supreme Court struck down affirmative action in higher education and rejected the independent state legislature theory.  Earbuds can translate foreign languagesin the ear. National Geographic laid off its writers and sunsetted its print publication.  Some of the Large Language Models, like ChatGPT have methods to request that your information be removed.  Your car is tracking you and sharing your data.  

In legal tech this week, Richard Tromans reports on his sabbatical and celebrates 7 years.  Nearmap will inventory where over 80% of US residents live with their commercial arial mapping technology.  Excel internals get exposed to prove fraud with evidence contained within an Excel file. ChatGPT maker OpenAI faces a lawsuit over how it used people’s data3 Geeks and a Law interviewed Legaltech News’ Isha Marathe on deep fakes and evidence.  Jean O’Grady analyzes the Thomson acquisition of Casetext, HT @ronfriedmann.
